Karis’ Cause came to be on Labor Day weekend 2014, when two-year-old Karis was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. We’ll never forget that night at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH), when the doctor told us the news. We realized this was a journey, a family should not take alone. While spending forty days in NCH, Karis and her entire family had so much support from others. One day, while we were sitting in the family lounge on the 12th floor, eating some home cooked food provided by a family friend, we thought we needed to help others. In addition to Karis having good health, we wanted something good to come out of her journey. As you can probably guess, we named our group “Karis’ Cause”, because without Karis, and her amazing courage, we wouldn’t have had the motivation to start this volunteer group.
After 27 months of treatment, Karis is doing great today. She’s a healthy 8-year-old, who continues to display strength and independence every day.
We do what we do for courageous kids and their families, in honor of Karis and her courage. Karis’ Cause has a single purpose, “Help Take the Sting Out of Childhood Cancer”.
Karis’ Cause was formed under the fiscal oversight of the American Childhood Cancer Organization, a highly respected national non-profit (www.ACCO.org).
Thanks for your support for the mission for Karis’ Cause.
